Limnephilus lunatus

Limnephilus lunatus

I've had a few nights this year when I've had more caddisflies in the trap than moths. Reluctantly, I've come to the conclusion that species-level identification of caddisflies is beyond mere mortals. The County Recorder is keen to get his hands on them but with the year I've had I just haven't managed to get this organized. Just like moths, caddisfly species change with the seasons and it's a delight when one I can confidently identify turns up.
