The Broad Centurian
I don't know what it is but I've always had a thing about these small, brightly coloured Soldierflies and their military names - Banded General, Black Legionnaire, Silver Colonel - so I was quite pleased to snap this marginally acceptable image of a Broad Centurian recently. This is a male with a shiny green thorax. They're not rare but they're worth taking a closer look at.
